A Jairamji
set is usually a blend of live instruments and electronica.Over
the years many different people have played with
the band. The sets have always been very freeform,
(a fancy way of saying unrehearsed),which has positive
and negative benifits. The negative side is that
everyone can end up playing at the same time, at
which point members of the audience stare with a
peculiar look at the noise emenating from the speakers.
The positive side is that it can be very unpredictable,
as each musician decides to suddenly let loose and
make some sort of order from the chaos...
The
music is guided by a backing track, or some live
sequencing, from Charlie. This often includes a
variety of sounds recorded from nature woven with
beats and basses, with enough space for the other
players to improvise.
The
music ranges from deep ambience , often building
up to tribal rythms and harmonies from the various
instruments. The preferred location for one of these
sets is definitely outdoors, where the music is
able to breathe and flow into the forest.
